Women in Parliament in 2015: The year in review
Globally, 2015 proved to be a turbulent political year, with election discourses dominated by migration and the financial crisis, and the continuing incidence of extremist violence. Women’s parliamentary representation, seemed to plateau, increasing by only 0.5 percentage points from the previous year. The more significant gains achieved in 2013 that saw an increase of 1.5 percentage points in the global average were not repeated.
