    Statutory Rules and Orders Nº 43. Social Security (Benefits) (Maternity) Regulations, 1973

    Defines the types of maternity benefit financed by the Social Security Fund, which may consist of a maternity grant, a maternity allowance, or both. In Paragraph 9, it states that maternity allowance shall be payable only if the woman has paid contributions for not less than twenty-six weeks in the fifty-two weeks immediately preceding the expected date of confinement. Subsequently, maternity allowance is granted on the basis of 13 weeks (six weeks before the week in which her confinement occurs and continuing until the expiration of six weks from the week in which her confinement occurs). The daily rate of maternity allowance is defined as 60% of the average insurable weekly earnings of the insured person, divided by six.
